Catering staff celebrate award success!

Catering staff at Harper Adams University College are celebrating after passing their Level 2 Award in Food safety in Catering.
The 19 members of staff, a mix of permanent and casual employees, all had to pass the course which is a legal requirement for food handlers.
The one day course saw the staff learning how to keep food safe when handling, storing and delivering it.
Catering manager David Nuttall said there was a 100 per cent success rate from the chefs and front of house staff who took the course.
Harper Adams catering staff currently have responsibility for preparing and serving food for conferences, in the main dining hall which serves around 1,200 staff, students and visitors a day, at the Kaldi Café in the Bamford Library and a temporary cafe which will close when a new student café aptly named ‘Graze’ opens next month.
David Nuttall, who was recently appointed as an advisor on food safety for the Food Standards Agency, said: “I am very proud and secure in the knowledge that all my staff are proficient in food safety.
“Anyone that handles food must know the essentials of food hygiene my staff have really risen to occasion here and passed with flying colours.”
